What is Car Torque 3777? Who is it for?

Car torque 3777 is a program that will provide the youth of Healesville and surrounding communities the opportunity to learn about vehicle repair, maintenance and road safety.

What's it all about?

To provide a program together with extra hands on sessions for youth aged 15 and above.

To provides a workshop facility where you can learn:

  • safe workshop practices

  • correct operation of tools and equipment

  • basic vehicle maintenance and repairs

  • automotive theory

  • learn road safety and safer driving strategies

To provide an environment where youth:

  • interact with Police, mechanics, automotive specialists and other role models

  • interact with professional drivers

  • under professional supervision, to work on the own vehicles or one that is provided

  • understand about the effects of alcohol and other drugs upon driving

  • have an opportunity to visit vehicle manufacturers and workshops

  • develop respect for others, co-operation, involvement and self-esteem

The program will be offered throughout 2009 and will run one evening a week. It will included instruction and group discussion to develop an awareness of the effects of alcohol and other drugs, safe working practices, vehicle maintenance, safer driving strategies and road safety. Visits will also be made to professional automotive workshops, including body repairs and tyre fitters.

Where is Car Torque 3777?
Located at Healesville Living and Learning Centre, at 1 Badger Creek Road, Healesville.

When does it meet?
Training sessions will be Wednesday evening during school term. Additional practical sessions will be held Saturday morning.

How much will it cost?
Five dollars ($5.00) per session - additional costs may be incurred for any consumable materials and parts used on an individual's vehicle.

Who do I contact?
For more information, or to enrol, interested participants can contact a committee member of the Car Torque 3777 program between Monday and Friday during the hours of 9:00 am - 5:00 pm.
