Volunteering

The Centre relies on the continued support given by those in the community who volunteer their services.

During 2009 these people staffed our Opportunity Shop that helped sustain the organisation with much needed funds. They assisted with the mentoring of young men in the Car Torque 3777 program, provided administration assistance to the staff, maintained the lawns and garden, provided assistance with tax returns and tutored students in the Open Access computer program.

The eight members of the Committee of Management were actively involved in the organisation of the 30th Birthday celebrations and the annual Women’s Evening event as well as their duties committee duties.

We acknowledge and appreciate their support during the year and the great contribution they make to the organisation.

Thank you.

Allied Services

The Centre continues to provide support services outside of course delivery to benefit our members. These include Tax Help, Work for the Dole placements, Tertiary Student placements and office space for a variety of welfare support and counselling services.

The Centre also provides access to funding for participation by students and during 2008 we were registered for the Parents Returning to Earning, the Productivity Placement Program and PTEP.

Career Advice

The Centre provided a free service of career advice and guidance during the year to support the general public in finding the right career pathway. This is an important role for our organisation to assist a person who is unsure of their options.

Tax Help

The Centre continued their partnership with the Australian Tax Office by offering Tax Help, a volunteer service. Thank you to Janos for his continued support of this service.
